Despite its worldwide success, “The Bear”has had an unforeseen consequence for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who portrays Richie “Cousin”Jerimovich in the show.
Fans of the popular TV show were delighted to hear that Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be reprising his role as Richie in the upcoming third season of The Bear. While initially portrayed as an antagonist, Richie quickly won over viewers and became one of the most beloved characters of the series.
However, although his given name is Richie, he is more commonly referred to as Cousin by the majority of the characters on the show. This endearing nickname is used even though he is not biologically related to the main cast. He is the closest companion of Mikey, the previous proprietor of The Beef, a struggling sandwich shop.
It can be argued that Richie has one of the greatest character developments in the show, making him a fan favorite. As Moss-Bachrach mentioned in his interview with The Guardian, this popularity may have gone too far, as fans of The Bear now frequently approach him and shout “Cousin!”at him.
Moss-Bachrach shared that while standing atop a small mountain near Kyoto, a Korean couple approached him and expressed their admiration for the show. He mentioned receiving numerous comments, with people frequently shouting “Cousin!”at him throughout the day.

Despite receiving recognition, Moss-Bachrach has come to realize that it can also have its downsides in the real world, as he shared that it is not always a positive experience for him.
“He explained that there are times when one may not be having the best day. In those moments, he simply apologizes and admits that he cannot offer much assistance.”
Moss-Bachrach will reprise his role as Richie in Season 3 of The Bear, where the found family faces challenges with the opening of their new fine-dining establishment, known as The Bear. Beyond the show, Moss-Bachrach is set to make a comeback in the MCU as The Thing in The Fantastic Four, after previously appearing in The Punisher.
