We’ve handpicked the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods to make your journey through the world of Vermund and Battahl as smooth as possible.
Getting the best mods for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is quite simple, thanks to the game running on the RE Engine, which many modders are familiar with since it launched in 2017 with Resident Evil 7.
With the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, modders have been rushing to create all kinds of graphical modifications, tools, and cheats to smooth out some of the intentionally rough aspects of the game, so we’ve listed the best ones below.
1. Fluffy Mod Manager
Fluffy Mod Manager is a tool that fits into Dragon’s Dogma 2 and manages the mods you load. Installation is devilishly simple, all you have to do is drag any of the mods you want into the folder and check a box in the mod manager. It really is that easy.
The reason you’ll want to use Fluffy Mod Manager is that it will handle the installation and uninstallation of any other mods for you. If you’re bold and use a lot of them, and find the game crashing, Fluffy Mod Manager will help you find the culprit, while keeping your file directories clean and compartmentalized.
2. REFramework
REFramework opens a world of possibilities for Dragon’s Dogma 2 players. With it, you can adjust settings at the engine level that the game uses. Things like a Freecam mode, or changing the game’s field of view. Enabling these settings is very simple: open the menu with the Insert key and check a box for the feature you want to enable.
If you want to get creative, REFramework also opens the doors to playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 in VR.
3. DD2 Save Manager
Dragon’s Dogma 2 comes with a single save slot, which is overwritten every time your game autosaves. Luckily, if you’re not a fan of that, you can easily add multiple save slots to your game using the DD2 Save Manager mod. As the name suggests, it allows you to manage multiple backup files. So if you get hit by the dragon plague, or answer a Sphinx riddle wrong, you can always revert to a safer save file.
You can select shortcuts to refresh your save, start a new game, and create a manual save based on another file, too. All you have to do is launch the tool in the background with your game running, and it will automatically be listed. The tool can even swap backup saves on the fly, so you don’t have to restart the game.
4. DLSS 3 Frame Generation
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has Super Resolution DLSS and FSR 3 frame generation, but the real king is DLSS 3. Although it is planned in a future patch for the game, modder PureDark, known for its Starfield mod, has already enabled it in the game. If you are having trouble running the game at acceptable frame rates, this mod might just do the trick and increase performance. Just make sure you have an Nvidia RTX 40 series graphics card or newer in your system.
Note that there are comments stating that this may cause game crashes or crashes, which is probably why the implementation is not official yet. But, if you are still keen to use it, it is an option. Just make sure you save often.
5. Infinite Stamina out of combat
One of the peculiarities of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that the game gives you infinite stamina inside cities, but not outside. While this makes some sense for combat, it can be frustrating if you want a quick stroll through the verdant hills of Vermund.
So, this mod eliminates stamina exhaustion outside of combat. If you’re like me, you’re probably tired of watching your Insurgent run out of steam trying to reach an uncharted path. Additionally, this mod is compatible with the Fluffy Mod Manager.
6. Enemy drop Ferrystone (Transpierre)
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s movement system relies on the use of Portacrystals and Transstones, both of which are limited. Without going so far as to cheat to have hundreds of them in your inventory, this mod adds Transstones to the enemy loot table, making them more common to find and making movement a little easier.
This is more of a balance change, if you don’t want to use the ox carts at all. Mods like this and the previously mentioned stamina change don’t necessarily give you access to endgame level items early like other mods on the platform.
Cheats, cosmetics and more
The Dragon’s Dogma 2 section of Nexus Mods is already looking great, and the Modding Heaven Discord is abuzz with new mods for the title. However, some of them give you access to what appear to be cheats, such as infinite portacrystals or items for quests.
This is cheating, and it won’t really preserve the experience the game’s developers intended, which is why they’re not on this list.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was designed to be deliberately difficult, creating a high level of resistance between players and its mechanics. For those seeking to alleviate these difficulties, solutions exist. However, we do not recommend their use.
Can you get banned for using mods in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Capcom has not yet banned players for using cheats or mods, but they may do so in the future, so be warned.
Capcom is unlikely to take action on purely cosmetic mods, such as different textures or tattoos for your characters. However, if you have changed your Pawn or character in a significant way that the game can detect, then they may take action in the future.
