Although Homelander is believed to be the most dominant supe in The Boys, the Season 4 finale reveals a major plot twist that introduces another powerful contender.
Despite the fact that most of The Boys’ supes were injected with Compound V by their parents during childhood, Homelander was the world’s first cape-wearer to be artificially created.
Homelander was conceived in a Vought lab through the combination of Soldier Boy’s semen and an unidentified woman who was compensated for carrying the embryo. However, unbeknownst to her, this would ultimately lead to her demise. When Homelander emerged from her womb, he used his laser vision to escape, ultimately causing her death.
His list of abilities includes superhuman strength and durability, X-ray vision, heightened senses, incredible speed, the ability to fly, and, as previously mentioned, laser vision.
Despite the fact that his son Ryan, who is the first naturally born supe, has the potential to surpass his father in strength, he has not yet reached that level. Nevertheless, The Boys Season 4 Episode 8 reveals that Sister Sage is already more powerful than Homelander.
Sister Sage is always one step ahead
Despite ongoing discussions about why The Seven have not yet eliminated The Boys, it remains consistent with both the show and the comics that supes may possess great physical strength but lack intelligence.
Despite their best efforts, whenever they join forces, chaos ensues – as evidenced by the Season 3 flashback of Payback’s failed military mission. In the Season 4 finale, Homelander struggles to devise a plan without Sage’s guidance and ultimately fails.
Thankfully, she is well ahead of both The Seven and The Boys, orchestrating everything from afar to guarantee the death of Victoria Neuman and the framing of Robert Singer for the crime.
This sets the stage for an improved plan as pro-supe Speaker of the House Calhoun assumes the role of president and declares martial law. As a result, hundreds of superheroes are deputized throughout the country, answering directly to Homelander.
The situation was truly ideal for the “blond ambition,”showcasing the immense power of Sister Sage as the most intelligent being on the planet.
Having the foresight to anticipate people’s actions and manipulate them to her advantage, she essentially holds the power to do as she pleases.
Despite facing initial setbacks, such as being fired from The Seven, she is able to use her intelligence to overcome any obstacles.
Despite Homelander’s inflated ego, he cannot compare to Sage’s intelligence. She makes this clear to him during the Season 4 finale, when he believes their plan has failed, stating, “This is still the plan.”
“Although we faced a few challenges along the way, we managed to get to this point. I just had to keep some things to myself, the things that would have been ruined if you were involved.”
Sage is considered the most dangerous supe among all others, which is a sentiment shared by numerous fans. In fact, one fan speculates that she may have even grander schemes in store for The Boys Season 5.
Homelander might be physically stronger, but Sage outsmarts him
“According to X/Twitter, Sister Sage is not just your average evil, but rather operates on a whole other level and is considered the most dangerous superhuman in the world.”
“I am aware that she has contingency plans in place for Homelander and all other supes. It would not be surprising if she is plotting to remove Homelander from power in order to gain control of everything.”
Someone else commented, “Sage has shown that she has a talent for manipulating others to further her own agenda. This is especially evident with Homelander, who is known for his impulsive behavior.”
“The third person added that Sage is aware of Homelander’s ego and plans accordingly, as it is a major obstacle to her plan.”
Additionally, a fourth individual joined the conversation stating, “While Homelander possesses immense power, he has shown utter incompetence in managing a company. He lacks the ability to manipulate public perception and now relies on Sage to plan for him.”
The fourth season of The Boys is currently available for streaming on Prime Video. For those in search of new content, there are several television shows making their way to streaming platforms this month.
