The Boys Season 5: A Focus on a Father and Son Duo

The majority of The Boys Season 5 will center on the dynamic between Homelander and Soldier Boy, exploring their relationship as father and son.

The finale of The Boys Season 4 has placed Homelander and the new supes in a powerful position, as they now have complete control over the American government.

Despite the majority of The Boys being taken to supe prison and Billy Butcher being on the run, many fans were expecting Season 5 to revolve around their efforts to regain control.

Despite this, during a San Diego Comic-Con panel, creator Eric Kripke revealed that a significant portion of the season will revolve around the father/son dynamic between Homelander and Soldier Boy.

According to Kripke, Soldier Boy will have a significant presence in Season 5. The creators aim to make him a prominent character and explore the dynamic between him and Homelander, which has yet to be fully explored. The potential for father-son emotions is something that the team is eager to delve into.

Despite The Boys revealing Homelander’s origins as a lab creation early on, it wasn’t until Season 3 that his true parentage was ultimately uncovered.

In the episode ‘Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed,’ Mindstorm, Payback teammate of Soldier Boy, revealed that Vought had used his sperm in an experiment to create a more powerful supe, which ultimately resulted in the creation of Homelander.

Upon learning this, Soldier Boy appeared satisfied with the revelation, even going as far as to express to the Seven leader that he would have willingly given up his own spotlight for Homelander, stating that any father would want the best for their child.

Despite their initial connection, the relationship between Soldier Boy and Homelander in The Boys universe soon turned sour when Soldier Boy witnessed the true monstrous nature of Homelander. In an attempt to defeat him, Soldier Boy joined forces with The Boys.

Despite his failed attempt, Soldier Boy’s fate remained the same at the end of Season 3 as he was once again frozen in time. However, the eighth episode of Season 4 revealed that Homelander had obtained possession of his son’s body.

As a result of never fully exploring their bond, it is understandable why Kripke would choose to dedicate a significant portion of the show’s final season to the fractured father and son duo’s relationship.
