The Boys showrunner has no plans for any true Gen V crossover

Fans of The Boys and Gen V may still have a chance at a crossover, but it is unlikely to be a large-scale event as they may hope for.

Showrunner Eric Kripke recently had a conversation with Variety discussing the ongoing fourth season of The Boys and the upcoming second season of Gen V, which is currently being filmed. One question that seems to be on everyone’s mind is when we can expect a crossover between the two shows.

Despite fans’ desire for a major crossover event between the two shows, Kripke promptly crushed any hopes of it happening.

“I am drawn to the concept of interconnected strands and hidden references that intertwine, but a complete team effort is not something I support. I am constantly anxious about the idea that viewers must watch both to comprehend one.”Kripke elaborated.

Despite the numerous plot lines that are set to intersect between the two shows, it does seem unusual that we already caught a glimpse of Gen V characters Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordan in one of The Boys Season 4 trailers.

A previous trailer had also announced that the supe virus, first introduced in Gen V, would play a significant role in the plot of The Boys Season 4.

Nevertheless, it appears that the differentiation Kripke makes is not about keeping plot elements distinct, but rather about ensuring that one show is not necessary to comprehend the other.

“In my opinion, if you prefer to watch The Boys over another show, then go ahead and watch it. Similarly, if you choose to watch Gen V instead of The Boys – which is a decision many people make – that’s perfectly fine.”

Each one has its own story and purpose, and they must each be strong enough to stand on their own without the other. However, I have no intention of burdening the audience with added tasks.

Currently, The Boys and Gen V will continue to exist as separate entities, but there are numerous possibilities for the future. This is especially exciting as there are plans for more spin-offs from The Boys franchise, such as The Boys: Mexico and an animated series that will stay true to the comic.
