The Boys stars appear on Jordan presidential election posters and everyone’s confused

Fans of The Boys residing in Jordan were left bewildered by the sudden appearance of doctored presidential posters featuring characters from the show in various locations throughout the country.

Despite The Boys Season 4 revolving around a fabricated presidential election involving Victoria Neuman, certain characters from the show have become involved in actual political events.

A Reddit user shared images on the Boys subreddit that featured altered political posters in Jordan, with characters such as Homelander, Billy Butcher, and The Deep from the show superimposed onto them.

All of the characters, except for The Deep, have been dressed in professional attire and are posed in front of the Jordanian flag to create a polished appearance. The Deep, however, remains true to his trademark wet suit.

Some people in Jordan have photoshopped the boys characters as Jordanian election candidates and had them posted on the streets byu/pocket_lint_thief inTheBoys

Despite being posted on the subreddit, these flyers left many international fans puzzled. One even questioned, “Is this meant to be humorous or is it a genuine parody of the candidates?”

The trend of meme posters first emerged in the country on August 16th, 2024 as a satirical response by certain citizens towards Jordanian politician Khaled Musa Issa Abu Hassan.

The Boys’ posters were a response to the oversaturation of Hassan’s campaign materials, which had taken over many billboards and pole spaces.

Despite the flyers being the first instance, Jordanians had previously poked fun at Hassan’s marketing tactics by creating a photoshopped image of him as the Spider-Man “Everywhere I go, I see his face”meme, as seen on Reddit.

Although it may have initially been intended as a joke, the prank posters have actually brought attention to Jordan’s upcoming general elections on September 10. As one Redditor explained, “This is a lighthearted way to engage the youth who may not be as interested in politics. It’s refreshing to see something humorous instead of the constant bombardment of political posters.”

Despite this, a different Redditor playfully cautioned against taking the prank too seriously, stating, “It’s all fun and games until Antony Starr becomes president.”
