While Gunbuddies in Valorant were previously limited to being attached to guns, the upcoming release of Champions 2024 will bring about a change in this restriction.
The Champions 2024 skin reveal trailer on YouTube unveiled the groundbreaking feature of a Melee skin in Valorant being able to hold a Buddy, a first in the game’s history.
At approximately 30 seconds into the trailer, players will be able to spot a Buddy hanging from the tip of the extended blade. A more defined depiction of the Buddies featured on this skin can be found in a post by Valorant Updates on X.

Based on leaked information, it is necessary to fully upgrade the Champions 2024 Phantom skin in order to unlock a Buddy for your Melee skin.
The Buddy currently equipped on the Phantom will be transferred to the Melee skin. However, it will only be visible on the Champions 2024 Melee skin and not on any other Melee skins at the moment.
In addition to this, the Champions 2024 skin bundle also includes other exciting features. Players will have the ability to activate special kill banners, and as they accumulate kills, the VCT logo on the back of the Phantom will gradually illuminate.
Additionally, an exclusive finishing animation will be available that launches the Agent into the air, resulting in a dazzling explosion above them. Once all the floating asteroids have been shot, the player can stand in the center to strike a pose beneath a floating trophy.
The Melee blade will also feature a unique inspect animation, as demonstrated in the trailer where Jett is seen twirling it before examining the blade and its Buddy.
Despite the steep price tag of 6,167 Valorant Points (equivalent to approximately $60), the Champions 2024 bundle is highly anticipated. This is due to its inclusion of a stylish finisher and a Melee Buddy, making it a worthwhile purchase for avid Valorant players.
