“The Chosen Cinematic Universe” appears to be in development, as fans have spotted an upcoming livestream scheduled on the official YouTube channel for the show.
This year has proven significant for The Chosen. The premiere of Season 4 was held exclusively in theaters, leading to a remarkable box office total of $59 million globally.
Following the release of the new episodes on streaming platforms, creator Dallas Jenkins and his team have already commenced work on Season 5, which will depict the events of Holy Week and the moments that lead to Jesus’ crucifixion.
While it’s a sensitive topic, it’s important to recognize the reality: by 2027, it’s expected that the series will reach its conclusion, with the seventh and final season focusing on the resurrection.
However, this isn’t the end – it merely marks the beginning. This weekend, Jenkins is set to reveal much more during a highly anticipated livestream event.
“Hear us out… Next Friday, September 20th at 5:30 PM ET. We’re announcing HUGE news about the future of The Chosen and providing details regarding our next (several) projects during our Global Livestream,” the announcement states.
You can tune in through Facebook, YouTube, and The Chosen’s official app.
“I’m thrilled and excited. Virtual ticket in hand,” commented one enthusiastic fan. “Can’t wait! I absolutely believe in your artistic vision and commitment to refreshing faith-based content, Dallas,” another fan added.
What could Jenkins reveal during the livestream? The prospect of a sequel series based on the Book of Acts remains a strong possibility, as this would enable the franchise to continue featuring The Chosen cast.
The Hollywood Reporter previously uncovered that a “Ruth and Boaz movie and an animated series for kids inspired by the world of The Chosen” are also being developed, although there are no specifics as to which story could inspire the latter project.
