The production of The Chosen Season 5 is currently underway. However, Dallas Jenkins has already begun work on Season 6 and was moved to tears after reading the script for the first episode.
In The Chosen Season 4, the intensity surrounding Jesus’ ministry only grew as the story progressed towards the inevitable and feared event: the Passion. The upcoming seasons will witness Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
Season 5 will delve into the events of Holy Week, including Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the cleansing of the temple, and the Last Supper with his apostles. On the other hand, the sixth season will unfold over a single, taxing day.
Jenkins recently provided an update to fans, stating that Season 5 filming has been going incredibly well and has been both intense and amazing. He also mentioned that he is already diligently working on writing Season 6.
He stated that he is currently working on the scripts for The Chosen Season 6 and recently finished reading the first draft of the first episode. Despite being involved in its creation, he found himself in tears as it was a truly remarkable achievement.
The final season of The Chosen will cover Jesus’ resurrection, making it a total of seven seasons. The show’s creator, Dallas Jenkins, had already planned this ending for some time and had previously shared with Deadline: “We had a clear understanding of how this story would conclude.”
“We are currently planning for the seventh season. Season 5’s writing has just been completed, as we have a clear understanding of where the story is headed and can explore within those parameters. While we have the overall plot mapped out, not all of the scripts have been written at this time.”
As the filming for The Chosen Season 5 wraps up, there are approximately 40 days left before its release date. The exact release date is still uncertain. However, considering that there was only a one-year interval between the third and fourth seasons, it is likely that the show will be released in 2025.
