The Connection Between One Piece’s Man Marked by Flames and Luffy’s Disappearance Explained

The latest One Piece spoilers have introduced a shocking twist, with the Thousand Sunny and several Straw Hat members disappearing overnight without a trace. Currently, details remain scarce, but it has been revealed that Nami woke up in a house made of lego pieces, dressed in a viking warrior outfit and carrying a sword on her back.

This surprising mention of Nami in a viking outfit has led many fans to speculate that she, along with Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, and Chopper, were transported to Elbaf. However, a more plausible explanation involves the Man Marked by Flames, potentially setting the stage for Luffy to acquire the final Road Poneglyph, signaling the beginning of the end of his journey.

Understanding the Disappearance in One Piece

The Man Marked by Flames, known as Hinokizu, has become a focal point of discussion regarding One Piece’s final saga since his introduction at the conclusion of the Wano arc. Mentioned by Eustass Kid and later elaborated on by Lafffitte and the Blackbeard Pirates, he is rumored to possess the last Road Poneglyph and travels on a pitch-black ship. Whirlpools are said to appear, swallowing anyone who ventures too close.

This phenomenon is speculated to be a result of a Devil Fruit, which aligns with the occurrence of whirlpools each time. This could explain how Luffy and the Straw Hats vanished from the Thousand Sunny in the dead of night without causing any disturbance, as everyone had settled down after a long day of celebration.

Hinokizu may have targeted the members of the Straw Hat crew aboard the Thousand Sunny for specific reasons. Nami, being an adept cartographer, will likely need to create a map based on the four Road Poneglyphs, especially since she and her crew should still possess rubbings of the other three Road Poneglyphs, assuming the Thousand Sunny is safe.

Additionally, Hinokizu might want Nami to chart out the information from the Road Poneglyphs by providing her and Luffy with the fourth and final one. Furthermore, if Hinokizu has connections to Gol D. Roger’s crew, as fans speculate, Luffy could have been taken to provide him with the last piece he requires on his journey to become the next King of the Pirates.

Opponents of this theory could argue that Nico Robin wasn’t aboard the Thousand Sunny to translate the Road Poneglyph. However, she may not need to be present as long as Luffy and his crew can create a rubbing of the last Road Poneglyph. Moreover, it’s possible that Hinokizu himself can read the fourth Road Poneglyph, explaining both his guardianship of it and Robin’s absence.

As of the writing of this article, everything remains speculative regarding the circumstances surrounding the Thousand Sunny’s disappearance, other than Nami’s awakening at the end of chapter 1126. Nevertheless, it appears increasingly likely that Hinokizu is somehow connected to this recent incident as the narrative unfolds in One Piece’s concluding saga.
