Annie, known as ‘annieleighsweettea’ on the social media platform TikTok, shared with her followers that she had purchased a coloring book from Temu, a Chinese online marketplace known for its significantly reduced prices.
Despite the lower costs, quality can be compromised, as Annie found out when she read the book — Curious Kitty’s Adventures — which used AI with varying levels of success.

Annie questioned in the caption of her video, as she flipped through the book and saw cats with additional limbs and strange “lumps,””What did Temu do to these unfortunate felines?”
Despite some cats still being recognizable, others displayed enlarged appendages, lack of facial features, or distorted shapes.
The bizarre cats in the video captured the attention of viewers, resulting in over one million views. Users flooded the comments section to express their entertainment and even drew comparisons between the unconventional cats and those depicted in Renaissance art.
One person expressed that the figures resembling lumps of flesh with cat-like heads brought them to tears. Another individual shared that the deformed figure on the ground caused them to laugh uncontrollably and struggle to breathe.
Some also observed that a large number of the images had a similar backdrop and seemed to have been created using the same prompt; “They continuously refreshed the page until they had filled the entire book with pictures of cats in a living room.”

Annie finally responded to numerous requests and uploaded a follow-up video revealing the location of the coloring book on Temu.
In addition, she acknowledged that the cat’s physical abnormalities were visible in the product images on the website before making a purchase.
“I didn’t realize it at first. I flipped through the pages and thought, ‘Oh, I’m a cat lover, maybe I’d enjoy this coloring book,’”Annie admitted. “I should make an effort to be more observant and attentive.”
