The Controversial Ugliest Card in Pokemon TCG Might Just Be Its Most Powerful Weapon

Despite the upcoming release of the next Pokemon TCG expansion set, Shrouded Fable, Stellar Crown Pokemon cards are gradually being unveiled to the public.

Stellar Miracle, the Japanese equivalent of Stellar Crown, was a huge success among Pokemon card collectors and it seems that Stellar Crown will also be well-received by fans. The new Stellar Tera-type is both thrilling and innovative, and there are some interesting cards that fans should be on the lookout for.

Despite this, the community did not celebrate every Stellar Crown card reveal. One such card, Orthworm ex (110/143), was revealed in an official Pokemon TCG Instagram post and was met with confusion from collectors.

Scarlet and Violet’s Orthworm elicited mixed reactions from fans, with some finding its vacant expression endearing while others found it off-putting. This was apparent in the comments on the post, as one person requested for the Pokemon to be removed while another referred to it as a “charming worm.”

A collector of Pokemon TCG humorously referred to it as the “Winner of the Ugliest Card Award,”while others were intrigued by the surprising discovery that Orthworm possesses arms.

The potential for competitiveness of the new Orthworm card piqued the interest of others. One player exclaimed, “I can’t wait to create the most irritating deck using this card. Good luck playing against me!”

Upon initial observation, it is evident that Orthworm ex has potential in tournaments. Despite its high Energy cost, Rock Tomb deals 150 damage and prevents the Defending Pokemon from retreating on its next turn.

Pummeling Payback has potential, although it may only be useful in certain situations. Whenever Orthworm ex is damaged by an opponent, even if it is Knocked Out, the Defending Pokemon will receive 2 Damage Counters for every Metal Energy attached to Orthworm.

Some players in the Instagram comments noted that pairing Orthworm ex with Metang could create a deadly duo. Although it may not be the most resilient Pokemon card available, its 220 HP still makes it a solid option to consider when constructing a deck.

Regardless of your preference between Stellar Crown or Shrouded Fable, this is a great time to be a collector of Pokemon TCG cards.
