The developers of Final Fantasy XIV have announced their intentions to implement Cross Region Data Center travel in the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail.The developers of Final Fantasy XIV have provided extensive information on the changes being made to Cross Region Data Center travel during Dawntrail and beyond. This feature enables players from different data centers to venture beyond their own region, giving them the opportunity to interact with players from other countries and form new friendships.During the Endwalker testing phase, the Materia server was made accessible to all data centers, breathing new life into the server with a smaller population. The community responded positively to these changes, and it appears that the developers are considering making it a permanent feature.The developers have announced in a blog post on June 18th that Cross Region Data Center travel will continue, but only to the Materia servers. This means that players from all servers can still visit Materia, but players from Materia will not be able to visit other servers.Square EnixMateria will be the only Data Center available for travel in Dawntrail.In Dawntrail, you will still have the opportunity to visit the OCE servers and continue fostering the relationships you have formed there. While the developers have not specified how long this will be possible, it appears that they are leaning towards making Materia the permanent destination for travelers.As a result, the developers have decided to avoid the culture clashes that often occur on different servers, as each server has its own unique culture and customs. These include factors such as raid strategies, etiquette during roulettes, and even guidelines for loot distribution among players.Despite being a recently launched server in January 2022, Materia’s smaller population allows the developers to be more experimental and the server feels more active, resulting in shorter queue times for duties.
