The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a massive game for you to explore. It can take a good amount of time to get around this region, and if you want to get around a bit more quickly in Skyrim, a horse is the only mount available. While the base game only featured normal horses as mounts, the Dawngaurd DLC included a skeletal horse named Arvak.
For those looking for an even cooler horse, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition has the mechanical dwarven horse. Here’s what you need to know about how to get the Dwarven Horse and where to find it in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Where to Find The Dwarven Horse
You will want to head to Runoff Caverns, a brand new dungeon included with Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition’s Creation Club content. It can be found south of Rorikstead near the tower with a hag inside. Once you arrive, investigate the torso of the dwarven horse on the ground outside of the cave. Doing so will trigger the Dwarven Horse quest.
The quest will have you tracking down five unique parts of the Dwarven Horse while exploring the Runoff Caverns. When you arrive at the dungeon, there is a massive dwarven staircase leading to a doorway. This area will trigger the Forgotten Seasons. I don’t recommend focusing on this, and instead move into the next room and head to the Autumn’s Bells in the back right corner where you can find the pieces of the Dwarven Horse in Skyrim.
- Right Front Leg. The first piece can be found in the hallway just after entering Atumn’s Bells. It is lying on the ground next to the body of a dead mercenary.
- Left Back Leg. This piece can be found in the center of the farm near the broken pillar.
- Left Front Leg. The piece can be found on a pedestal in the southeast section of the room.
- Right Back Leg. Cross the bridge and head to the far back left corner. The piece can be found under debris south of the Sickly Green Wheat.
- Head. The final piece can only be collected after completing the wheat puzzle. You’ll need to harvest all six types of glowing wheat in the room and place them in their individual containers to find the head. Once you’ve done this, the large door will open and the head will be on a pedestal on a pile of gold.
Head back outside to where you found the torso of the horse and activate it again. Doing so will reward you with the Vamidium mount in Skyrim.
