The Existence of Uub in Dragon Ball Super: Explained

Dragon Ball Super fans frequently question if Uub is a part of the series, as the sequel takes place after the time skip at the conclusion of the original show. As the manga approaches the point in the story where Goku encounters Uub, many fans are curious about his continued relevance and potential role in the future.

It is logical that Dragon Ball Super has yet to address the events of the original ending, as many things have changed, particularly with the introduction of characters like Whis and Beerus.

Despite this, Uub remains a canon character in the series and there have been indications that he will play a major role once he becomes more involved in the story.

Please note that this article includes spoilers for the series.

Does Uub Exist in Super? Explained

Uub is a character who appears in Super and is first introduced during the Universe 6 Tournament arc. Goku reveals that he had asked King Yemma to reincarnate Kid Buu as a good human boy, but Uub was too young to participate in the tournament against Universe 6.

In addition, it is important to note that this solidifies the character’s role in the canon and will play a significant part in the future. This has been hinted at subtly throughout the story, foreshadowing the pivotal role Uub will play in the final event of the original Dragon Ball manga.

During the Universe 6 Tournament arc in Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta were searching for fighters when Uub was first mentioned. The protagonist revealed that he had asked King Yemma to bring back Kid Buu as a good human boy, a detail that was later confirmed in both the manga and the anime.

Additionally, while the Tournament of Power arc was unfolding in the manga, Dende informed Goku at the Lookout that Uub was thriving and exhibiting promising developments.

Although the Saiyan mentions his young age as a barrier to participating in the tournament, the Namekian acknowledges his potential. However, the former declines to train him, claiming that it is not his strong suit.

During the Moro arc in the Dragon Ball Super manga, Uub made his biggest contribution when Goku required more God Ki. Jaco sought out Majin Buu, who then went to Uub and requested that he lend a hand in aiding the protagonist during the battle against Moro.

What could be in store for Uub according to Toyotaro

It is unclear what Toyotaro’s intentions are for Uub and the overall direction of Dragon Ball Super following the passing of Akira Toriyama on March 1st. However, it is evident that this character has been a prominent focus throughout much of the manga.

During the Universe 6 and Tournament of Power arcs, his name was brought up and he played a crucial role in helping Goku during his battle against Moro.

Hence, it is highly likely that Uub will eventually become a part of the main storyline. The main uncertainty lies in whether his introduction will follow the manga or take a completely different approach for his character.
