After the release of the Netflix documentary Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal, the Chief Strategy Officer of the company disclosed to us the “intriguing”motive behind why men and women engage in infidelity.
The focal point of the riveting tale of Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal is the controversial dating app designed for individuals in committed relationships to seek extramarital affairs. The app gained notoriety in 2015 when it was hacked, resulting in the exposure of personal data for millions of users on the dark web.
The recently released documentary series has sparked a significant response, with numerous viewers condemning individuals who are unfaithful to their partners and denouncing Ashley Madison for its role in the matter.
According to Paul Keable, CSO of Ashley Madison’s parent company Ruby, there is a tendency for people to pass moral judgments hastily without fully comprehending the situation.
Instead of providing funding or exerting control over the study, Ashley Madison granted her access to its membership in order for her to gain an academic understanding of the motivations behind why men and women cheat.
According to Keable, the reality was much different from the common perception. He stated that 80% of the women on Ashley Madison were married but not experiencing sexual fulfillment or orgasms.
“They were turning to Ashley Madison to fulfill their intimate desires. This is crucial because they still deeply cared for their spouse. Many would express their love for their partner, husband, and family dynamics, but it was clear that their intimate needs were not being fulfilled.”
“Society often presents women with two options: compromise and endure a terrible sex life, or pursue divorce, which can have catastrophic effects on not only her, but also her family and others who may become involved.”
According to Keable, Ashley Madison has the answer to this issue. He explains, “Our platform provides a way to have a successful and discreet affair, which ultimately helps to maintain the integrity of a marriage. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of this.”
What Keable found particularly intriguing about the study was the motive behind men’s infidelity. While it could be assumed that it solely revolves around physical desires, the results revealed that the majority of male participants were actually in search of emotional validation.
“These are typically the characteristics that are attributed to women, rather than men. This perspective truly shifts the narrative,”he added. “Therefore, instead of making judgments, I urge others to try to gain a deeper understanding. Not everyone is meant for monogamy.”
