After the release of iOS 16.4 to the public yesterday, Apple today announced the first beta of iOS 16.5. As is customary, the beta update is first offered to developers and will shortly be made available to public beta testers. Let us learn more about iOS 16.5 beta 1.
This isn’t the first time Apple has published a fresh beta so soon after a public build. In fact, this is the majority of the time. With the commencement of testing for the fifth major upgrade, we are getting closer to the announcement of iOS 17, which should take place at the upcoming WWDC event.
Apple also published iPadOS 16.5 Beta 1, watchOS 9.5 Beta 1, macOS Ventura 13.4 Beta 1, and tvOS 16.5 Beta 1 alongside iOS 16.5 Beta 1. The build number for the first iOS 16.5 Beta 1 is 20F5028e. The update is around 5GB in size because it is the first beta release of the new iOS 16 series.
Because beta 1 was very recently released, we are unaware of any changes or new features. But, as we discover modifications, we will post them here.
Apple made some modifications to beta updates in the most recent update. To receive beta builds, you must now connect in using the registered developer account or the public beta account. However, it was not working for some users in the previous beta releases. It should now function properly in the new beta series.
Thus, if you joined in with your developer or public account and selected beta, you will see the first iOS 16.5 Beta 1 on your iPhone. For the time being, the initial beta is only available to developers, but it will soon be available to public beta testers. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates.
Before installing the new version, make a backup of all your vital data and charge your phone to 50%.
