The First Descendant players call out major flaw with boss fights

The First Descendant features some incredible boss battles that serve as the game’s focal points. However, players have one significant complaint that greatly detracts from the overall experience.

On Reddit, a user pointed out that several of the game’s bosses are capable of causing substantial damage that cannot be evaded or avoided, unless cover is utilized.

Some bosses, including Swamp Walker, possess powerful ranged attacks such as missile barrages that are highly explosive. These attacks are able to track the player with precision, making it nearly impossible to dodge them no matter how well-timed the player’s movements are.

The main problem with this is that most of the Descendants offered to players are specifically created with mobility in focus. As a result, removing this aspect from their arsenal can greatly diminish the enjoyment for players whose characters prioritize speed and agility.

The original post received a lot of agreement. One person commented, “I think the Executioner and Pyromaniac combination is tough to beat. The giant elemental globe follows you and spits out smaller orbs that constantly track you. If I don’t hide behind something to take out the big globe, I have to face it head on or else it will keep spinning around the arena and shooting its scorching electricity at me.”

Another person stated, “It is impossible to evade the tracking on certain mission barrages unless you take cover. I have lost track of the occasions where a Walker’s mission barrage has turned 180 degrees towards me even after I have used my grappling hook to escape.”

Players have taken issue with how much unavoidable damage bosses like the Gravewalker Colossus deal.

Another person expressed their belief that the system seems like an unjustified form of punishment. They stated, “Certain attacks are like laserbeams that relentlessly follow you until you seek shelter, regardless of how much you try to evade or how quickly you move. It doesn’t seem like my death was a result of my own mistakes; it feels more like they chose for me to die, and therefore I did.”

Despite the lack of any announcements from Nexon, it is expected that the mechanics for boss fights in the game will remain unchanged. This means that certain battles, especially for players utilizing Bunny or other similar Descendants, may continue to be significantly challenging.
