The Future of Rebirth Island in Warzone: Debunking Rumors

Despite the introduction of other Resurgence maps in Warzone, Rebirth Island remains the most popular. There is a rumor that it may be removed once again with the release of Black Ops 6 Season 1.

The latest Call of Duty event, Next, revealed the highly-anticipated Area 99 Resurgence map, delving into the backstory of the beloved Nuketown map. It is set to be released alongside the Season 1 update, although there are rumors suggesting that it may also mean the removal of Rebirth Island.

Future of Rebirth Island in Warzone

Currently, there is no indication from official sources that Rebirth Island will be eliminated from Warzone upon the arrival of Area 99.

Despite rumors from leaker Alaix suggesting that Black Ops 6 Season 1 will be removing Rebirth Island and replacing it with the new Area 99 map, they have also stated that Fortune’s Keep will remain in the game.

It should be noted that, as of now, this is simply a rumor and does not seem to have any supporting evidence in the game files. However, Alaix has a history of being reliable in the past.

It can be assumed that one of the Resurgence maps will be temporarily taken out in order to introduce Area 99, although it is uncertain which one will be chosen. The developers have addressed the issue of large download sizes for players caused by an excessive number of maps, as evidenced by the permanent removal of Ashika Island shortly after the return of Rebirth Island in May 2024.

The expected outcome is for Area 99 to be the sole Resurgence map accessible upon the launch of Season 1, guaranteeing a high player population in the Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads playlists. The remaining Resurgence maps will then make a comeback later on in Season 1, although one or two may not be available at that time.

As the Black Ops 6 beta is set to begin on August 30, we can expect to learn more about Warzone’s plans closer to the event. The full launch is scheduled for October 25.
