On June 19, TenAsia, a Korean news outlet, published an exclusive report stating that BLACKPINK would be prioritizing their individual endeavors in the latter part of 2024.
The report also mentioned that it is likely that BLACKPINK’s full group activities will not be seen until 2024.
“In the second half of this year, the members of BLACKPINK will be focusing on their individual projects, with Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé releasing solo albums and Jisoo focusing on her acting career in dramas and films.”
The report also recounted the most recent undertakings of every member of BLACKPINK.
“Rosé has signed a contract with Teddy’s agency THEBLACKLABEL, while the other members established their own agencies for their individual activities.
Jennie has launched ODD ATELIER, Jisoo is active under the new label BLISSOO under her brother’s probiotics company BOMMAM, and Lisa has founded her independent label LLOUD and is currently pursuing solo activities.
The four members will focus on individual activities in the latter half of the year. Among them is Lisa, who will be the first to embark on her solo activities. She has announced the release of her new single “ROCKSTAR,”which will be released on June 28, at 9 a.m. KST, through global music sites.”
The news swiftly spread to an online forum, where some expressed excitement for the upcoming solos in 2024 and activities in 2025, while others remained unaffected by the news.
- “Anyways, I wasn’t expecting it.”
- “The fans were also expecting activities next year, we want their solos this year.”
- “Looking forward to next year.”
- “This is the year for BLACKPINK’s solos, please give Lisa a lot of interest next week.”
- “I love their solo activities.”
- “Don’t everyone know this already?”
- “Jisoo, give us another solo, something like “All Eyes On Me.”
- “This is obvious, they’ll first have to establish themselves.”
- “Is there a single BLINK who didn’t know this?”
In the meantime, several international fans voiced their disappointment regarding the temporary break of BLACKPINK as a complete group. Here’s how they responded:
- “We probably won’t see them together again until their 10th anniversary.”
- “I feel they only ‘renewed’ to keep the brand name because it is so big and also to not upset the fans.”
- “Pretends to be shocked lmao.”
- “I think they’ll be like SNSD and only do comeback/activities on special occasions like a 10th anniversary or something.”
- “But what’s also crazy is that their hiatus has been the exact same length as BTS’s military service and that’s if they come back next year.”
- “They clearly won’t be BLACKPINK ever again unless it’s for the name.”
- “What reason do they have still being confined in that group lmfao. This is just SNSD-core, but even SNSD makes more comebacks.”
- “Their fandom is already so divided, I don’t even think regular group comebacks will be beneficial, unfortunately. I quite liked them as a unit more than their individual careers.”
- “They’ll probably have a comeback in 2026 for their 10th anniversary and we won’t hear from them as a group for another 10 years.”
Please share your thoughts on this. Are you eagerly anticipating their individual projects? We would love to hear from you in the comments.
