“The Glory” Cast Members: Their Transformation and Current Success

The massively popular Netflix K-drama “The Glory”has propelled the careers of numerous cast members, while solidifying the established status of renowned actresses like Song Hye-kyo.

Today, nearly two years after the series aired, the cast members have encountered a variety of fates.

Here’s a closer look at the current status of “The Glory”cast members.

Song Hye-kyo

In her portrayal of the female lead Moon Dong-eun, Song Hye-kyo experienced a dramatic transformation from her previous work in melodramas. The tremendous success of “The Glory” is credited with reviving Song Hye-kyo’s stature and popularity in the industry after a spell of less successful projects.

After “The Glory,” Song Hye-kyo has been engaged in filming the movie “Dark Nuns.” Although she was set to join the cast of the drama “The Price of Confessions” alongside Han So-hee, that project ultimately did not materialize.

Lim Ji-yeon

Thanks to her viral villainous role in “The Glory,” Lim Ji-yeon ascended to top-star status, leading to numerous commercial endorsements and new acting opportunities. She garnered a Baeksang Award for Best Supporting Actress and has since taken on various projects, including K-dramas like “The Killing Vote” and “Lies Hidden in My Garden,” as well as the action film “Revolver.”

In her personal life, Lim Ji-yeon has celebrated good news as well; she started dating her “The Glory” co-star Lee Do-hyun, and their romance has captured the public’s affection.

Lee Do-hyun

Although he was slightly “overshadowed” as the male lead in “The Glory,” Lee Do-hyun’s career has seen significant advancements following the series. He has received both critical acclaim and commercial success for his subsequent works, including the viral drama “The Good Bad Mother” and the box-office hit “Exhuma.”

Notably, despite enlisting for military service shortly after his rise to fame, Lee Do-hyun managed to release a variety of new projects (including “Sweet Home” Season 3 and a cameo in “Death’s Game”) and continues to enjoy a happy relationship with Lim Ji-yeon.

Jung Sung-il

After gaining fame as Lim Ji-yeon’s “sexy” husband in “The Glory,” Jung Sung-il took time to carefully choose his future projects. He is involved in the 2024 film “Uprising” and is currently filming two other movies, “The Interview” (tentative title) and the cinematic adaptation of the popular Korean web novel, “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.”

Park Sung-hoon

In portraying a despicable character in “The Glory,” Park Sung-hoon gained significant notoriety, but it wasn’t without challenges. He shared that he received a lot of negative backlash in real life and did not attract any endorsement deals due to his “bad”image.

Nonetheless, Park Sung-hoon has secured various offers for new acting roles, including notable K-dramas like “Queen of Tears” and Season 2 of “Squid Game.”

Kim Hieora

Kim Hieora received widespread acclaim for her portrayal of the drug addict and former bully Lee Sa-ra in “The Glory.” Following this viral success, she continued to earn praise with her impactful role as a villain in Season 2 of “The Uncanny Counter.”

However, her career faced significant turbulence when the media outlet Dispatch revealed her past association with “Big Sangji,” a well-known iljin (school bullying) gang at Sangji Girls’ High School, infamous for their theft, violence, and verbal abuse.

Although Kim Hieora admitted to her involvement with Big Sangji, she denied engaging in school violence and later sought to resolve the scandal amicably with the concerned parties.

Despite the ongoing negative public sentiment, Kim Hieora aims to expand her career into Hollywood.

Cha Joo-young

In contrast to her fellow “The Glory” co-stars, Cha Joo-young has not participated in many projects since the series concluded. To date, she has only filmed the weekend drama “The Real Has Come!” and the upcoming historical drama “Wongyeong” (tentative title).

While she received commendations for her performance in “The Glory,” Cha Joo-young faced criticism for her perceived lack of authenticity and stiff expressions in “The Real Has Come!,” which led to some controversy.

Park Ji-ah

Although her role in “The Glory” was relatively brief, actress Park Ji-ah, who played the mother of Moon Dong-eun, captured the audience’s attention with her remarkable performance. Following “The Glory,” she took on minor roles in various projects, including “Strong Girl Nam-Soon.”

Sadly, on September 30, the actress passed away after battling cerebral infarction at the age of 52.
