On Thursday, August 22, 2024, a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim anime film was released, revealing the film’s release dates for both the United States and international audiences. The film is set to premiere in the United States on Friday, December 13, 2024, while international theaters will have the film available two days earlier on Wednesday, December 11.

The upcoming anime film, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim, is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation, New Line Cinema, and Sola Entertainment, making it the franchise’s first foray into the world of anime. The convention is set to take place from Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 20 at New York City’s Jacon K. Javits Convention Center. Brian Cox portrays the role of Helm Hammerhand, the main character and ruler of Rohan. Gaia Wise is cast as Helm’s daughter Hera, and Luke Pasqualino takes on the role of Wulf, a lord from Dunland. Miranda Otto, known for her portrayal of Éowyn in Peter Jackson’s previous movies, will be returning as the brave Shieldmaiden of Rohan. Additionally, Éowyn will also serve as the film’s narrator.

The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim anime film will also feature Lorraine Ashbourne, Yazdan Qafouri, Benjamin Wainwright, Laurence Ubong Williams, Shau Dooley, Michael Wildman, Jude Akuwudike, Bilal Hasna, and Janine Duvitski in supporting roles. Serving as executive producers for the film are Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood, and Toby Emmerich.

Joseph Chou is responsible for producing the film, while Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou are writing the screenplay based on Addiss and Matthews’ original story. Academy Award winner Philippa Boyens is also on board as a consultant, known for her contributions to the writing teams of the live-action films. Additionally, Jason Demarco, known for his work with Adult Swim, Cartoon Network Studios, and Warner Bros. Animation in the realm of anime and animation, is serving as a producer for the movie.
