The Mega Evolutions that fans dream of for Pokémon Legends: ZA

The reveal of Pokémon Legends ZA and the return of Mega Evolution have players hoping that even more Pokémon will benefit from this improvement.

Pokémon Legends ZA took fans by surprise when it was announced recently during Pokémon Day 2024.

The game, based on Kalos, takes players into what appears to be a futuristic new version of Illumis and features the return of an iconic mechanic from Generation 6: Mega Evolution.

This beloved feature has been absent from the main series since the end of Generation 7. Now, its promised return has fans hoping that more Pokémon will get Mega Evolutions this time around, and many are sharing their wishlists.

Fans share which Pokémon they want to see get new Mega Evolutions

The unexpected announcement prompted fans to share their own Mega Evolution concepts on social media.

First, some are speculating about the game’s starters. Assuming Pokémon Legends ZA follows the example of Arceus Legends, the starters will come from three different regions that are not Kalos and their final evolutions will have a peculiarity, probably the Mega- Evolution.

This narrows the list down a bit, as the Gen 1 and Gen 3 starters already have Megas, and Brindibou, Moustillon, and Héricendre were the starters in Arceus Legends. This leaves five Pokémon of each type as potential starters for ZA Legends which, as Pokémon VCG player Wolfey pointed out, means a one in five chance of getting a Mega Incine.

Others have pointed out the series’ general favoritism for Charizard and Mewtwo, who already have two Mega Evolutions each. This has led some fans to expect additional Megas for both, although most seem less enthusiastic about a Mega Mewtwo A or a Mega Charizard Z.

“With the return of Mega Evolution, a new collective fear looms over the Pokémon community… MEGA CHARACTORY Z?!” said one Twitter user.

Another shared the sentiment, saying “charizard and mewtwo are going to have a third form of mega evolution, aren’t they.”

Of course, fans have also had their personal wish lists since the days of Pokémon games on 3DS. Pokémon Legends ZA presents another opportunity to make those wishes come true. And, considering that the only existing Pokémon introduced after Gen 4 with Mega Evolutions are Nanméouïe and Diancie, fans are hoping that more Pokémon from later generations get the Mega treatment.

“I’m manifesting a Mega Hydreigon,” said one Reddit user. Other popular candidates include Kalos starters Tranchodon and Libégon, the latter of which apparently had its planned Mega canceled due to design issues.

Regardless of which ones end up being chosen, the Pokémon community’s consensus on the return of Mega Evolution appears to be overwhelmingly positive.
