The monthly cost of Palworld servers is absolutely pharaonic

The CEO of Palworld, Takuro Mizobe, and a network engineer, Chujo Hiroto, shared the impressive cost of the game’s servers which amounts to 70 million yen, or almost 440,000 euros.

Palworld has captivated gamers around the world, selling 19 million copies across Steam and Xbox, and breaking a whole host of records.

All of this is a significant feat for an indie game in early access. But a triumph like this doesn’t come cheap.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe recently made a lighthearted post on social media, showing the company’s expected server costs for this month. The total exceeds 70 million yen, or approximately 437,000 euros.

“Wait, maybe we’ll go bankrupt because of server fees?” Says the translated caption of the screenshot sharing this estimate.

The number of concurrent players Palworld attracts is huge, so it’s no surprise to see such a high figure.

One of Pocketpair’s network engineers, Chujo Hiroto, quickly moved on to explain in English why the costs are so high.

“Following the order to never let the service go down, no matter what, we prepared servers without considering costs.” Hiroto then explained that the team will continue to give everything they have to allow players to continue enjoying the game without problems.

Pocketpair has indicated future plans to increase the game’s multiplayer capabilities, which would likely drive these costs even higher.
