The series Dragon Ball has introduced a plethora of captivating characters. A fundamental aspect of the show is the collection of the Dragon Balls, which characters strive to obtain. Once all the balls are gathered, Shenron emerges and grants the collector a wish.
Just like many others, Pilaf was driven by a desire for power and sought to obtain the balls in order to gain control over the world and gain immense power.

Dragon Ball: Examining the Unusual Wish that Rescued the Planet
As previously mentioned, Pilaf was the one who intended to make a wish to Shenron in order to gain control of the world. He believed that restoring his and his gang’s youth was crucial for achieving this goal. However, due to unexpected circumstances, he was unable to fulfill his desire. Right before he could make his wish, Oolong intervened.
Despite not being known for his intelligence in the animanga series, Oolong’s wish set off a series of events and is considered one of the most underutilized in the series. He requested from Shenron a pair of the most comfortable underwear in the world, which may have been embarrassing but ultimately became the wish that saved the world in Dragon Ball.
Despite the serious consequences, the aftermath was unexpectedly amusing. Viewers of the series will recognize the Shadow Dragons, created from the overuse of the balls. These beings are known for their malevolent nature and are often born from grandiose wishes. However, Oceanus Shenron was an exception, as she originated from Oolong’s seemingly harmless wish.
Oceanus Shenron is highly renowned among the Shadow Dragons due to her origin as a wish granted by Shenron for the most comfortable pair of underwear. She also had an encounter with Gohan in the GT series, and Goku playfully inquired about her creation. He couldn’t contain his amusement when he learned that she came into existence because someone asked for a pair of underwear.

Oolong’s interference in the process resulted in a series of events that prevented Pilaf and his gang from becoming younger. We can only speculate on the potential consequences of this, but one thing is certain – it prevented Pilaf from achieving world domination. Thus, the most humiliating wish in the animanga series ultimately served as the savior of the world.
