In a demonstration that combined his passion for fitness and technology, Björnsson lifted an astonishing amount of high-performance solid-state drives (SSDs), weighing nearly half a ton.
Following his fame from the popular series, Björnsson has openly expressed his views on the show’s controversial final season, criticizing HBO’s storytelling choices. Despite these challenges, he has continued to engage with fans and technology, revealing his enjoyment of gaming titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and showing support for popular streamers like Asmongold. This strongman clearly maintains a rigorous training routine, proving he hasn’t lost any of his physical prowess.
The event, highlighted by Tom’s Hardware, witnessed Björnsson collaborating with hardware titan Phison and data solutions expert VDURA. In this visually striking showcase, he successfully deadlifted 996 pounds of Phison’s cutting-edge 128 terabyte SSDs—a feat that, while not the heaviest on record, could potentially represent one of the most valuable lifts ever performed.
Björnsson’s $32 Million SSD Lift
Although Phison’s 128 terabyte SSDs are yet to hit the shelves, preliminary estimates suggest a price tag of around $14,000 each as per TechRadar. This estimation is grounded in the dollar-to-terabyte pricing framework of previous models from the same company, where SSDs typically range from $40 to $90 per terabyte.
In total, Phison supplied Björnsson with 2,303 SSDs for his impressive deadlift. While the event showcased Björnsson’s strength and the capacity to store a staggering 282 petabytes of data, the total value of the hard drives presents a compelling narrative of technological and financial significance.
If the $14,000-per-SSD evaluation holds true, the combined value of these components reaches an incredible $32,242,000. Unless someone has outmatched this in lifting an equivalent weight of precious metals or gems, Björnsson’s endeavor may stand as the most financially impressive lift documented to date.
It’s worth noting that in his World’s Strongest Man competition in 2019, Björnsson famously performed a deadlift of a 44,000-pound aircraft valued at approximately $250 million.
