The plot of the anime series centers around an online game called ‘New Gate,’ which has trapped thousands of players in a perilous situation, much like the first season of the popular isekai series, Sword Art Online. However, the true story unfolds when Shin, a skilled player of New Gate, endeavors to rescue everyone from the game by utilizing his expertise to defeat the final boss.

Luckily, Shin emerges victorious against the boss, resulting in the rescue of all the players trapped inside New Gate. As he prepares to log out, Shin suddenly finds himself engulfed in a bright light and is unexpectedly transported 500 years into the future of the game’s timeline.

Despite facing numerous challenges and making sacrifices, Shin remains unable to leave the game and is forced to continue playing, this time in the future. With his party members having logged out, Shin must now roam the world of New Gate alone, driven by his ultimate goal of reconnecting with all the NPCs he befriended during his time in the game.

Luckily, in his search for his former companions, he encounters Tiera Lucent, the disciple of Schnee Raizar, the top supporting NPC of Shin. Tiera typically remains confined to one location, but upon Shin’s arrival, they agree to journey together towards Schnee with the hopes of a joyous reunion after 500 years. Will Shin’s voyage unfold as effortlessly as he anticipates?

Despite being based on a light novel series of the same name, The New Gate’s manga adaptation is arguably more popular among fans. As the source material is a light novel, viewers can anticipate a slightly slower pace in the series compared to the manga.

Despite its seemingly typical isekai plot, The New Gate stands out with its unique concept of a double isekai. The main character, Shin, is initially transported to New Gate and later reincarnated in the future of the game. Fans can also anticipate a touch of drama in the series.
