The New SSD Is Capable of Reaching 10 GB/s

Although MSI is not likely the first company that comes to mind when you think of the best internal SSDs, the company does sell a few models that are designed to be used in high-end workstations as well as gaming PCs. MSI has just announced a brand new incredibly quick SSD that is capable of speeds of up to 10 GB/s.

MSI has just introduced the NVMe M.2 solid state drive known as the Spatium M570 HS. It was intended for the more recent PCIe 5.0 standard. It will be available in both 1 TB and 2 TB models, and both of them will have a large copper heat sink attached to them in order to assist in maintaining a low temperature (which in turn keeps performance high). It makes use of a Phison E26 controller, which is a device that has already demonstrated its efficacy in the context of other drives.

Because it supports PCIe 5.0, its performance ceiling is significantly higher than that of the vast majority of SSDs that are currently on the market. According to MSI, the sequential read rates on the 1 TB device may get up to 9.5 GB/s, while the full 10 GB/s is possible on the 2 TB disk. Sequential write speeds are rated at 8.5 GB/s for the 1 TB drive, whereas the 2 TB version is again set at 10 GB/s. The random read and write rates are rated at up to 1.4 million and 1.5 million 4K IOPS respectively.

This is significantly faster than even the most advanced NVMe 4.0 solid-state drives (SSDs), such as the Samsing 980 Pro SSD, which has read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 5,100 MB/s. Naturally, you won’t be able to achieve those speeds if your personal computer (PC) does not support PCI Express 5.0, which is… the majority of PCs. PCIe 4.0 solid-state drives are still amazingly quick, even for those of us who do not have the most recent CPUs and motherboards.

MSI has not disclosed the new drives’ exact release date or pricing information at this time. You will need to keep an eye on MSI’s website for any additional information regarding this matter.
