The Only Official Demon Slayer Tsugoku is Stronger Than Other Recruits, and it’s Not Tanjiro

The second episode of Demon Slayer season 4 heavily featured Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho. While not as action-packed as previous story arcs, these episodes still offer enjoyable character development.

Despite not receiving much screen time and being sidelined for a significant portion of the anime, Kanao Tsuyuri showed her potential and skill as a demon hunter in this episode. Although the focus was not entirely on her, it gave fans a glimpse of her abilities and how they compare to other characters.

She is among the few chosen individuals who possess the skill of Tsukugo. Technically, Tanjiro could also be included in this group as Giyu mentored him and they trained together, sharing the same Breathing Technique. However, the latest episode revealed that Kanao surpassed the others and may even surpass Tanjiro.

Understanding the Superiority of Kanao in the Demon Slayer Corps

Despite all the recruits who passed the Final Selection, Kanao Tsuyuri stands out as the top demon hunter. She was accompanied by Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Genya, all of whom also successfully completed the test. These individuals are widely recognized as some of the most powerful demon hunters, a sentiment shared by those familiar with the manga.

Despite that, there are a few observations that can be made to confirm Kanao’s superiority in both her physical and combat skills. One of the most notable demonstrations of her brilliance was during the Final Selection. Although the details of her battles were not revealed, it was evident that she emerged unscathed unlike the others. Her uniform remained pristine and devoid of any bruises, serving as a clear indication that she effortlessly defeated every demon she encountered.

One could also note her progress in the training routine. By the second episode, she had already advanced to the second-to-last stage of the Hashira Training while Tanjiro took a break. Despite this, she appeared unfazed and remained composed while speaking with Shinobu Kocho. The training consisted of six stages, all of which Kanao effortlessly completed. Following her conversation with her master, she was about to begin training with Sanemi Shinazugawa.

During my analysis, I also noted the opening for season 4 of Demon Slayer. In one scene, we witness demon hunters such as Zenitsu and Genya running alongside their fellow Corps members. Kanao raced ahead while Inosuke struggled to keep up with her. In the manga, it appeared that Tanjiro took longer to reach the fifth stage of his training routine.

Despite Tanjiro’s undeniable evolution as one of the strongest demon hunters among non-Hashiras, Kanao stands out as having an advantage over her fellow comrades at this time. This is why Kanao is currently considered one of, if not the, top recruits in the Corps.
