Glitchbirds are cleverly hidden throughout each chapter, and discovering all of them is essential for completing the game’s achievements and trophies. Chapter 1
The first glitchbird can be found very early in the game, making it impossible to miss. You’ll encounter it in the open shortly after Violet joins Jot on their way to Tome Tower, patiently waiting for rescue behind a sign.
Chapter 2
This marks the first hidden glitchbird, indicating that not all of them will be found as easily as the one in Chapter 1.
On the pages where Jot faces attacks from green lightning creatures, you’ll find a ruined wall towards the top. By walking behind the wall from the left side, it will become invisible, revealing a hidden glitchbird waiting to be rescued.
Chapter 3
When tasked with finding Moonbeard’s drink, head over to Jot’s house located on the left page. Entering it will lead you directly to the glitchbird.
Chapter 4
This glitchbird is found deep within Chapter 4 and is easily overlooked. Progress through the chapter until you acquire the bow and arrow located outside the book on Sam’s desk. After completing the minigame within the book, proceed until you reach a city filled with snails needing assistance to collect lost books. Exit the storybook via the portal on the left.
Once outside the book, flip a few pages back to the spread with snails living within the tree on the right page and the inky black page on the left. Walk over the black page to uncover a hidden portal. Jump in to rescue the glitchbird.
Chapter 5
In Chapter 5, the glitchbird is in plain sight within the queen’s castle on the left-hand side. However, a guard prevents you from getting to it. Don’t worry; there’s a doorway partially hidden by a column directly above the guard on the other side of the rope. Walk through the archway to enter the small room housing the glitchbird.
Chapter 6
While exploring Trarrg Mountain, you will encounter some of Humgrump’s henchmen transporting a screw. On Jot’s page, there’s a wall of vines you cannot interact with just yet. Remember this location, as later in the level, Moonbeard will provide Jot with mushroom bombs capable of dispelling the vines. After acquiring the shroom bomb, backtrack to where the rat & cheese puzzle was. Enter the portal and head back to the previous page where you can now utilize the bomb to destroy the vines, revealing the hidden glitchbird.
Chapter 7
Chapter 7 teases the glitchbird early on, but you won’t be able to access it until later in the level when you acquire another tool for Jot.
Continue through the beach pages until you obtain the bomb stamp. Use it to blow up the tanks that initially blocked Jot’s path, then backtrack to the beach pages. Outside of the book, utilize the bomb stamp to eliminate the metal block obstructing the glitchbird’s location, then re-enter the book to rescue it.
Chapter 8
After Violet defeats the mage in Chapter 8, don’t rush inside the castle. Instead, head to the left of the castle entrance where the glitchbird will be revealing itself in plain sight by a tree.
Chapter 9
Chapter 9 features the final two glitchbirds. The first one is located shortly after Jot escapes his cell in the Deep Doom, where he dodges a deadly energy beam with Pip the mouse’s assistance. After Pip helps Jot, proceed toward the yellow light on the left to enter the room where Pip was. Keep moving left to discover a hidden room containing a glitchbird.
The second glitchbird in Chapter 9—and the final one overall—is found toward the end of the game after reuniting with Jot’s allies and escaping the Deep Doom. Once inside Humgrump’s palace, head to the right where you’ll find the glitchbird hiding behind a valve sticking up from the floor.
With all glitchbirds successfully rescued, you can now proceed to complete the game, defeat Humgrump, and unlock the coveted platinum trophy.
