The Pokémon Company has acknowledged the significant stock shortages affecting the Trading Card Game’s (TCG) Prismatic Evolutions set and is actively working to resolve the matter.
Fans of the Pokémon TCG are experiencing quite a challenge with the release of the Prismatic Evolutions Special Set. The anticipation surrounding this expansion reached unprecedented levels, prompting analysts to forecast considerable stock shortages—predictions that have proven correct.
Given the historical sales of some Pokémon cards reaching millions, it’s no surprise that both collectors and investors are keenly interested in acquiring limited sets. Those looking to flip Prismatic Evolutions products or individual cards have eagerly hoarded inventory, hoping for lucrative returns. However, many may find their efforts unfruitful.
The Pokémon Company has responded to the backlash regarding the shortages of Prismatic Evolutions, indicating their commitment to addressing the situation.

Increased Production for Prismatic Evolutions
In a statement shared on social media, The Pokémon Company expressed empathy towards TCG fans and outlined their planned response. “We’re aware that some fans may experience difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet-Prismatic Evolutions products at launch due to high demand impacting availability,” the message stated.
They further acknowledged the disappointment caused by these shortages, affirming their commitment to printing additional stock as swiftly as possible and at full capacity. Retailers can expect new inventory to arrive “as soon as possible.”
The exceptional demand for Prismatic Evolutions stems largely from the immense popularity of Eevee and its various evolutions, which are central to this set. The Pokémon Company has branded this year as the ‘Year of the Eevee,’ celebrating the beloved character. The set includes full-art promo variations of all eight ‘Eeveelutions,’ turning them into highly sought-after chase cards.
Currently, listings on eBay for ungraded versions of the Umbreon EX card from this set are priced at around $2,800. Those fortunate enough to obtain Prismatic Evolutions stock are reselling Elite Trainer Boxes for approximately $600, despite the original price being only $60.
Fortunately, the announcement regarding the increase in printing has sparked a decline in excessively high listings. However, it remains uncertain if this shift will affect the value of the sought-after chase cards.
