The Pokemon Company has been recognized as a “Line-up highlight”by Gamescom for the upcoming annual convention, scheduled to be held from August 21 to 25, 2024.
The Pokemon Company is sandwiched between Square Enix and THQ Nordic in the event organizer’s X/Twitter post on July 19. However, it remains uncertain in what capacity the company will appear or what it will be showcasing.
Based on the responses to the line-up, it can be inferred that fans of the franchise are simply delighted to receive any news related to Pokemon. One reply stated, “I’ll take anything at this point, please give me some Pokemon,”and included a GIF of AZ from X and Y exclaiming, “It feels like it’s been 3,000 years.”
Some members of the community have speculated that there may be a Pokemon news event in August, given the recent line-up announcement. However, as of now, there has been no confirmation of a Pokemon Presents event scheduled for next month.
Potential candidates for a spot in the Gamescom lineup include both Pokemon Legends: Z-A and Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.
Despite not being included in the line-up highlights, it is highly unlikely that Nintendo will be present. However, the latter, which is expected to be released on iOS and Android devices in 2024, has a higher chance of happening.
According to the official site of the game TCG Pocket, players will be able to “open two booster packs at no cost”and collect digital cards that feature both nostalgic artwork from the past as well as brand-new, exclusive cards for the mobile title.
The release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A is planned for 2025 worldwide, all at the same time.
