The highly anticipated third season of Invincible is in the works, and show creator Robert Kirkman has hinted at what fans can expect for protagonist Mark Grayson. In addition, Kirkman has not ruled out the possibility of a crossover with The Boys.
Mark will receive a new suit in Invincible Season 3, which guarantees an even darker and more gripping continuation of his superhero escapades. This is quite a feat considering the level of intensity we have witnessed thus far, but we have complete faith in Kirkman.
Despite the success of Invincible, The Boys continues to experience growth on Amazon Prime Video. As two subversive television shows with a focus on superheroes, a crossover between their universes would be monumental. According to Kirkman, talks have taken place regarding this possibility.
When asked about the possibility of Homelander and Omni-Man facing off, he tells Variety that there have been some discussions. He acknowledges that it would be an exciting event, referencing their epic battle in Mortal Kombat 1. However, he clarifies that there are currently no concrete plans in place.
Despite not explicitly saying “yes,”the hint of it being a topic of discussion is intriguing. Both universes have experienced significant growth since their debut. The Boys has even launched a number of spin-offs, starting with The Boys: Diabolical and followed by Gen V, The Boys: Mexico, and Vought Rising.
While Invincible is currently only available as an animated series, a live-action film is currently in the works. As Kirkman notes, both he and the team have previously worked on Mortal Kombat, sparking debates among fans about which character is truly the strongest.
There are numerous challenges to bringing a project like this to fruition, as the stories and universes are completely distinct and currently exist in different forms of media. However, the possibility is certainly present and it would undoubtedly be embraced by fans on both sides.
