The Potential Final Blow from Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen

For nearly 30 chapters, the battle between Sukuna and the sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen has raged on. Despite facing off against every introduced sorcerer, Sukuna’s conflict with Yuji remains unresolved. The animosity and conflicting beliefs between the two have been clearly portrayed throughout the ongoing fight.

Despite numerous fan theories predicting Yuji’s demise at the hands of Sukuna during their final battle, it is also plausible that Megumi could deliver the fatal blow to Yuji before Sukuna has the opportunity. Furthermore, there remains a small possibility of Nobara’s return after the downfall of the Jujutsu Society, potentially playing a pivotal role in its reconstruction.

This article includes spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen series, so please be aware.

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Risk of Megumi and Yuji’s Lives in Defeating Sukuna

In chapter 263 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji utilized a binding vow to enhance the effectiveness of his dismantles in removing Sukuna’s soul from Megumi’s body. This caused Sukuna to become more defensive during the fight, but in the end, chapter 263 concluded with Angel directly aiming a Maximum Output Jacob’s Ladder at Sukuna.

Despite not knowing the true result of this attack, it is widely believed among fans that it will only harm Sukuna rather than completely defeat him. The intense animosity between Sukuna and Yuji has been consistently portrayed, with Sukuna’s self-centered mindset conflicting with Yuji’s selfless nature of putting others first and protecting them.

Despite Yuji being the literal main character, this, combined with other factors, makes it highly likely that he will be the one to defeat Sukuna. However, the exact process behind this victory remains unknown. As Yuji continues to struggle to remove Sukuna’s soul, there is a possibility that Megumi may find a way to gain control over his body, especially as the barrier between their souls weakens.

As a potential outcome, Megumi may eventually compress Sukuna’s entire being into a single finger, which Yuji would then ingest in order to contain him. As Sukuna has already devoured all of his fingers, there is a possibility that towards the conclusion of the series, Yuji will be able to imprison Sukuna in his entirety without any remnants of him being scattered as individual fingers.

It is likely that if Yuji consumes all of Sukuna’s being, he will then sacrifice himself to eliminate Sukuna. This would align with the events in the early chapters of the manga, where the plan was for Yuji to consume all the cursed fingers and then be executed to eliminate Sukuna.

It is possible that Yuji could lose control if he consumes a complete Sukuna, as seen in the events of Shibuya. In this scenario, Megumi may be the one to land the final strike on Yuji, who will be struggling to contain Sukuna within himself until his last breath.

This situation is very likely as it also alludes to Yuji’s “initial death,”in which a similar incident involving him, Sukuna, and Megumi took place. Gege had previously mentioned in an interview at Jump Festa 2019 that among Megumi, Yuji, Nobara, and Gojo, only one will survive or only one will meet their end.

Despite the almost-confirmed death of Gojo and Megumi’s steadily approaching death due to the damage sustained while being possessed by Sukuna, it is likely that Nobara will be the sole survivor among the first-year students. This could lead to her becoming an instructor and continuing to guide and train new jujutsu sorcerers.

Despite the high likelihood of Gojo’s death, Yuji’s determination to defeat Sukuna even at the cost of his own life, and Megumi’s role as Sukuna’s current vessel, it is highly probable that Nobara will be the sole survivor.

However, there is still a chance that the storyline involving Yuta using a copied body swap technique to possess Gojo’s body, resulting in Gojo being revived in a similar manner to Toji during the Shibuya Incident arc, may occur.

While this does not guarantee Gojo’s survival, it does suggest that he still has a role to play in Sukuna’s defeat. The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, chapter 264, will be released on July 28 and can be read on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform.
