The Sims 4 players outraged over free update’s impact on Lovestruck launch

The recent free update for The Sims 4, which was released alongside the Lovestruck expansion, has been plagued by bugs and performance problems, making it difficult for players to fully enjoy the new content.

The new expansion has received positive feedback from Simmers for its fresh romance features, such as turn-ons and turn-offs and an in-game dating app.

Regrettably, the release itself encountered some difficulties. Similar to previous expansions, Lovestruck came with a base game update that introduced new features, including a variety of boundary settings that enhance the complexity and inclusivity of Sims and their relationships.

Despite the update, players have still encountered numerous bugs in the game, some of which ironically affect Sims relationships.

The recent update for Sims has received heavy criticism on various social media platforms. In a Reddit thread, one user expressed their frustration, stating that the update “seriously messed up”their game. They further elaborated that the character value panel, which was previously functioning smoothly with the Parenthood DLC, had now become glitchy and malfunctioning since the new patch was installed.

One person reported, “The recent update is causing my sims to behave rudely towards each other and lose relationship points without any interaction”- a problem that is especially ironic given the romantic theme of Lovestruck.

“Another player expressed their frustration: despite previously having strong relationships between their sims, their married couples are now constantly fighting. In fact, one of the couples even went as far as denouncing their friendship to their spouse. The situation is filled with arguments and unkind behavior, and the player is unsure of how to repair their relationships.”

In response to a different player’s comment on a separate Reddit post, it was mentioned that they had been excited about the update and its new content. However, they also noted that the current state of the game had “an excessive amount of gameplay bugs,”making it not worth the effort to try.

Another person in the thread stated that the update had caused their game to stop functioning properly, mentioning a malfunctioning UI and difficulties with saving and exiting The Sims 4.

EA’s official forum dedicated to reporting bugs has been inundated with numerous complaints and responses from fellow players encountering similar problems. The most prevalent issues reported include the inability to load Create-A-Sim, Sims (even those with good traits) autonomously displaying aggressive behavior, and the previously mentioned problem with the Simology panel.

Thankfully, EA is actively addressing the UI bug that has been causing game crashes. In response to a post on the EA forums (link), community manager EA_Cade stated that they are currently testing a solution for the reported issues and aiming to release it as soon as possible.
