Qualcomm is the manufacturer of a significant number of the mobile processors used in Android-based smartphones and tablets. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is a new processor that was unveiled by the firm today. It is designed to bring premium functionality to phones that are priced more affordably.
Previous incarnations of the Snapdragon 7 series were used in devices such as the Motorola Edge 30, the Samsung Galaxy A52S, and others. The Snapdragon 7 series is a System-on-Chip (SoC) design that is designed for usage in mid-range mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is one rung behind the Snapdragon 8 series, which is Qualcomm’s flagship processor family and can be found in high-end smartphones such as the Galaxy S23. The Snapdragon 8 is comparable to a computer’s Intel Core i7 processor, whereas the Snapdragon 7 is equivalent to an Intel Core i5 processor.
The new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 brings various capabilities to the 7 series that were previously exclusive to Qualcomm’s premium processors. These features were previously exclusively accessible on the premium chips. There is now support for aptX Losless and Qualcomm High Speed Link, both of which contribute to an improvement in audio quality for Bluetooth connections and result in fewer instances of connection loss and glitching. The addition of Auto Variable Rate Shading (VRS), which renders the most critical elements of the screen at full resolution while drawing the backdrop at a lesser resolution, has been made in order to improve the overall performance of games. There is also the typical variety of performance enhancements, including an increase in processing speed of up to 50% and a gain in efficiency of 13% in comparison to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 from the previous year.

It has been verified by Qualcomm that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 would be utilized in upcoming smartphones from Redmi and Realme, which will be available for purchase later in the month of March.
