The MW3 community is deeply divided following the recent announcement of a ban on all sniper rifles in the game’s Ranked mode.
MW3 ‘s Ranked mode gives players a space to play more competitively. As such, this game mode often eliminates certain weapons from the rotation that the developers deem too unbalanced in order to level the playing field a bit.
However, these decisions can be quite controversial, as is the case with the recently announced withdrawal of all snipers.
MW3 players in limbo after sniper ban in Ranked
Modern Warfare 3’s February 13 update revealed that all snipers were now removed from Ranked mode, which immediately started a debate among players on the MW3 subreddit.
One fan began by saying: “There are going to be a lot of unhappy people here.” And, for the most part, he was right, although there were also an equal number of people who were happy with the decision.

“They call it a shooter, but restrict 90% of weapons, can anyone find the irony here? Wait until Season 3, until all submachine guns except the Rival-9 are also restricted,” says another player.
However, many fans support the move, with one user saying: “Good, now I won’t die 3 seconds into a round on Highrise.”
Snipers are apparently a source of frustration for many players, and these fans feel that they should not be present in Ranked, or even in casual modes: “I might finally start playing ranked. I wish there was a normal mode without sniper.”
