The strangest Pokémon Go evolution yet

Pokémon Go players have noticed that the evolution process for Courrousing isn’t working as expected in Niantic’s mobile game, with some receiving the wrong monster altogether.

Pigeon and Colossus date back to the very beginning as part of the original Gen 1 Pokédex, although in Gen 9 the evolution chain was given another form.

Its final form, a Fighting/Ghost-type, is called Courrous Monkey and is a pretty good monster to have on your team in Pokémon Go.

However, after a player tried to evolve Colossing to get one on January 22, they got a big surprise.

Colossinge Evolution Bug Gives Pokémon Go Player a Shock

As seen on the mobile gaming subreddit, a user was in the process of getting a new Pokémon from PC 1234, until something very surprising happened.

Big choice here. Should I do it? byu/YarbianTheBarbarian inpokemongo

Standing in the wrong place was a shiny Noctali, or what some fans have dubbed a “cursed” form of Courrousinge. In fact, it appears that a visual bug has occurred.

These issues are not uncommon and have produced some very interesting alternative designs in the past, including colorful rainbow designs.

Now, if you’re not lucky enough to own a shiny Pokémon, it would be a huge blow to see one on the screen and not store it in your inventory afterwards.

One user advised: “A free shiny? Hell yeah, you should.”

It appears there is an issue with the evolution that has affected more than one player, too. Another user replied: “I just evolved mine, and now I just get a blank screen where Courrousinge should be.”

It was later fixed, they say, meaning any temporary glitches blocking evolution – or offering a completely different Pokémon – were short-lived. So, would you take a chance and try to keep a Noctali?
