The System76 Gazelle laptop runs Linux and has an RTX 3050 graphics card.

System76 supplies a variety of desktops and laptops designed specifically for desktop Linux, such as the recently upgraded Meerkat desktop. The company is now reintroducing the Gazelle mobile workstation, which includes a Core i9 CPU and RTX 3050 graphics.

The Gazelle is a high-end workstation laptop from the firm, with the previous edition featuring a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, a 15.6 or 17.3-inch screen, up to 64 GB RAM, and an RTX 3050, 3050 Ti, or 3060. The CPU in the new model has been replaced by an Intel Core i9-13900H processor with 14 cores, 20 threads, and a maximum clock speed of 5.4 GHz. That’s a lot of power in a computer that’s still (kind of) portable. System76 has reduced the number of GPU options to just one: the RTX 3050.

“The 13th Gen Intel processors provide unrivaled speed and power efficiency, performing up to 8% faster than the previous gen Chip and making the perfect choice for professionals and developers,” System76 claimed in a press release. With quicker processing and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, users can easily multitask without lag or slowdowns, resulting in the greatest blender rendering, streaming, and gaming experience.”

The new model will also be available with 15-inch or 17-inch 144Hz screens, open firmware, and Pop! OS 22.04 LTS pre-installed. Because System76 chooses hardware that is fully supported in the Linux kernel, you should be able to run practically any other Linux distribution, though installing NVIDIA drivers on other distros may be a pain.

The new System76 Gazelle starts at $1,299 and will arrive on March 30.
