It could be argued that Vegeta possesses the greatest amount of pride in the Dragon Ball series, and with good reason. Not only was he among the most powerful of the now-extinct Saiyan race, but he was also the sole surviving prince of this formidable species.
Accompanied by Nappa, he launched an attack on Earth with the intention of conquering it and harnessing the power of the Dragon Balls to attain immortality. Despite his efforts, the Z fighters foiled his scheme and he found himself facing certain death at the hands of Krillin. Miraculously, Goku intervened at the last minute, leading to a series of events that ultimately forced Vegeta to retreat back to Earth.
Upon his return, Vegeta encountered Bulma, his future wife, who not only compelled him to bathe but also convinced him to don a pink shirt. This was one of the rare occasions where Vegeta was outmatched, and ironically, it was by one of the least powerful individuals in the series.
Analyzing Vegeta’s Loss to Yamcha: How One of the Weakest Characters Overcame the Prince of Saiyans
Although he was initially introduced as an antagonist in Dragon Ball Z, Vegeta eventually becomes one of the main protagonists of the series. As the prince of the extinct Saiyan race, he came to Earth with intentions of conquering it and using the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality from the Eternal Dragon, Shenlong.
Together with Nappa, the former general of the Saiyan army, he embarked on his initial attack on Earth. Upon their arrival, they were met by several Z fighters, whom Nappa easily defeated, including Yamcha, Chiatzu, and Tien. Vegeta then allowed them to contact Son Goku for a battle, while Nappa proceeded to obliterate the planet’s military forces.
Luckily, Vegeta was able to detect Goku’s presence from a distance, but his power levels were incredibly high. In order to prevent any interference in their battle, he commanded Nappa to eliminate his comrades. Nappa followed his instructions and was on the verge of crushing Gohan when Goku finally arrived. Goku swiftly defeated Nappa and urged Vegeta to heal his injured comrade.
After a sequence of events, the much-anticipated battle between Goku and Vegeta finally took place. Goku emerged victorious, but not without sustaining severe injuries. As Vegeta attempted to flee, Krillin suddenly appeared and made an attempt on his life. However, Goku intervened and pleaded with his friend to spare Vegeta, hoping for a rematch in the future. After much persuasion, Vegeta was granted his freedom.
During the Frieza Saga, Vegeta was killed on Planet Namek but was later revived. He then returned to Earth, determined to challenge Goku in his Super Saiyan form. Luckily, Goku had survived the battle against Frieza and did not have to be summoned back to Earth. After nearly two years, Vegeta returned to Earth in search of Goku.
Upon landing on the planet, he immediately made his way to Capsule Corporation, the only place he was familiar with. Upon seeing a grimy Vegeta, Bulma demanded that the Saiyan Prince take a bath. Vegeta obliged, but was then instructed to don a pink shirt and yellow trousers.
Despite his initial reluctance, Vegeta eventually gave in to Bulma’s persistent nagging and wore the unfamiliar outfit. This led to a shameful loss against one of the weakest creatures on Earth for the proud Saiyan prince. However, as he spent more time with Bulma, he found himself opening up to her more than anyone else on the planet. Eventually, their relationship blossomed into a romantic one, and they went on to have their first child, Trunks. After that, the couple tied the knot and got married.
