There is much excitement surrounding Liam Hemsworth’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 4, and Freya Allan has shared her thoughts on his addition to the show.
Since its inception, Freya Allan has played the role of Princess Ciri in the series, making her an experienced member of the cast. In the past, she expressed her hesitation about returning for The Witcher Season 4, especially now that Hemsworth will lead the season following Henry Cavill’s departure.
During a recent interview with Collider for his new film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the actor expressed sympathy for Liam Hemsworth’s situation regarding his role in The Witcher.
“I don’t want to speak on his behalf, but based on what I’ve gathered, it seems like he is determined to bring the heart. He has been putting in a lot of effort in his training. I genuinely feel for him because, for one, that fan base can be quite critical, and stepping into someone else’s role is not an easy task. However, I am eagerly anticipating what he will bring to the role. He is a wonderful person, and I hope he is given a fair chance by everyone.”said Allan.
Ever since the announcement in 2022 that Cavill would be stepping down from his role as Geralt and passing it on to Hemsworth, fans have been expressing their discontent. They have directed their ire not only at the showrunner, but also at Cavill himself. Many believed that Cavill had perfectly captured the essence of the character from the original books and video games, including his gruff demeanor and commanding presence.
Despite expressing his love for The Witcher and its original books, fans were disappointed when it was announced that Cavill would not continue in the role for the long term. This left Hemsworth with the difficult task of filling big shoes, with some fans skeptical of his ability to portray the monster hunter. There were even fan mock-ups of how Hemsworth would look as Geralt, and some held onto hope that Season 4 could still be successful. However, for many fans, the sudden change in actors was a major issue that they could not support.
At the Season 4 table read, fans caught a glimpse of Hemsworth with the rest of the cast, and he seemed perfectly comfortable. Not only did he hit the gym, but Joey Batey also shared that Hemsworth has acclimated well to the team.
It’s simply a matter of time, as The Witcher Season 4 is currently in progress and has been approved for a fifth and final season. In the meantime, you can use this month to catch up on other series available for streaming.
