The Witcher Fans Anticipate Season 4 Following Freya Allan’s Teasing of Ciri’s Romantic Storyline

Ciri’s personal journey takes a new turn in The Witcher Season 4, but fans are not excited about the character’s upcoming romantic storyline.

The fourth season of The Witcher will cover a significant moment from the original books in which Ciri breaks free from Geralt’s protection and gains independence. As she becomes aware of the harsh realities of the outside world, the former princess encounters The Rats, a rebellious group.

The confirmation that Season 4 will delve into this section of the books has been met with dissatisfaction from fans, who are unhappy about The Rats’ immoral acts of murder and assault.

In a conversation with Elle, Freya Allan shared that the upcoming shift in her role will be the biggest one she has experienced yet, saying it is completely unlike anything she has ever portrayed in the past.

She had her initial encounter with romance, if it can even be labeled as such, since it was not a healthy relationship.

Despite the excitement surrounding the new Witcher adaptation, some fans are not as enthusiastic. One Twitter user, commented on X/Twitter, expressing their dread for the upcoming release.

“Another person described it as the most disastrous relationship in all of history…”

A fan commented, “The books portray Ciri’s relationship as more of an assault than romance, but I assumed the writers would have addressed that.”

Despite their actions, the Rats are not portrayed as likeable characters. This is evident in the books when Ciri becomes involved in a controversial relationship with one of the members, Mistle, following her assault of the former princess. Based on Allan’s statements, it appears that The Witcher Season 4 will address this scene in some capacity.

Fans of The Witcher may recall that The Rats were originally planned as a prequel television series, which faced backlash for this very reason. However, it has since been decided that The Rats series will not be released. Instead, certain stories will be adapted for Season 4.

The fourth season of The Witcher is scheduled to premiere in 2025, offering viewers a glimpse of Liam Hemsworth’s portrayal of Geralt. Additionally, discover why Allan sympathized with the actor and learn about other upcoming series coming to streaming platforms.
