Pokémon Go players are once again criticizing tickets for Zarude, the Jungle Thief, with many saying those who bought the Pokémon “are part of the problem.”
Microtransactions in Pokémon Go have always been a very controversial topic, and nothing has divided the community more than tickets for Zarude. In essence, players had the option to pay for Jungle Thief research tasks and would be rewarded with a Zarude.
Zarude, as a Mythical Pokémon, is extremely rare and can only be obtained through these tasks, meaning players were practically buying a Pokémon.
The ticket was not well received by the community, and now some players are divided, with fans calling the buyers “part of the problem”and criticizing their purchases.
“Raise your hand if you refused to contribute to this madness. Sorry to say it like this, but if you bought the Zarude: You’re part of the problem,” shared a user on the Pokémon Go Reddit, criticizing fans who shelled out for the ticket.
The community quickly shared their thoughts, with many arguing that “paying for a Pokémon hurts”and that “it’s pure evil to charge so much”for a Pokémon like Zarude.
While Zarude can hold its own in PvP, it’s far from the most powerful Pokémon you can use, meaning the rare mon will likely just be a Pokédex filler for many, especially given that the power and IVs are not guaranteed with this ticket.
One user added: “Even if I got a hundo I wouldn’t care, it wouldn’t serve any purpose for me other than filling out the Pokédex.”And there will be a shiny eventually anyway, I won’t buy the shiny either, but it would be more worth it.»
However, some players came to the defense of ticket buyers, saying: “I won’t judge people who buy one if they missed the previous event, people are free to use their money however they want.”»
After all, the last time players were able to get Zarude was in 2021, so if they missed that chance, it makes sense to grab a ticket to get another chance – but some players just can’t justify that price of €9.99.
