As the start of Diablo 4 Season 4 approaches, it is important to prepare for the upcoming grimdark adventure by completing these necessary tasks with a new character.
While some players may immediately jump into Season 4 of Diablo 4 upon its arrival, others may prefer to lay some groundwork to ensure a smoother playthrough. Even though you will need to create a new character for Season 4, you can still benefit from completing certain actions in previous playthroughs. For instance, progress made in the story and previous seasons will still aid you in Season 4.
Before embarking on Season 4 of Diablo 4, we have compiled a helpful checklist of tasks to complete and their importance. Keep in mind that this list is optional, so don’t worry if you miss a few items. For those just starting their Diablo 4 journey, it is recommended to begin Season 4 immediately. However, if you are already midway through Season 3 or have a non-seasonal character, it is best to continue and begin Season 4 after completing the story. This way, you can skip the campaign the second time around.
Additionally, it’s important to note that Season 3 is not a story expansion or DLC, but rather a new and enjoyable way to experience the game through unique quests and mechanics. Thus, we suggest completing the following tasks before starting Diablo 4 Season 4.
Table of Contents
- Choose a character class
- Complete the campaign
- Know how to get a mount
- Find all the Altars of Lilith
- Unlock the whole map & Renown
- Know your Legendary Aspects
Diablo 4 Season 4 could bring a whole new flavor to the game.
Choose a character class
It may seem like common sense, but it is crucial to consider. Are you planning to use the same character class as in previous playthroughs for the game? If that is the case, keep in mind that when Season 3 concludes, this character will become a regular non-seasonal character, just like your others. This may make it feel redundant, so it might be worth trying out a different character class for Season 4 to see what unique experiences it has to offer.
If you are interested in experimenting with a different build for an existing class, you can simply respec them instead. We recommend utilizing Diablo 4’s seasonal rotations as a chance to explore a new class each time, as making use of the unique rewards and features of each season will help keep your gameplay exciting and diverse. Additionally, keep in mind that you have the option to skip the campaign in seasonal gameplay and jump straight into the endgame – as long as you have completed the main story of Diablo 4 at least once, whether in a seasonal or non-seasonal setting.
Remember that we offer a variety of high-quality builds for all character classes, whether you’re focusing on leveling, endgame content, or PvP. These builds will ensure the best possible results for your gameplay.
Complete the campaign
If you choose to replay the story in Season 4, you will have the option to do so. However, if you want to immediately delve into the new content, it would be more beneficial to skip the story replay. Building your character from the beginning will still be necessary, but the seasonal content offers a faster progression rate, especially with the use of World Tier advancements and completing the steps in the Seasonal Journey.
If you have already completed the campaign, you can skip it. By finishing the campaign before beginning Season 4 of Diablo 4, you will have the option to skip it. While some players may choose to replay the campaign during Season 4 for comparison, having the option to skip is convenient. It is worth noting that the campaign of Diablo 4 is epic and often considered the highlight of the game.
It is likely that you will want to finish the story and see the ending before Season 4 starts. Keep in mind that if you decide to replay the campaign during Season 3, you can always skip it if you change your mind.
We’d advise finishing the story before playing Season 4.
Know how to get a mount
Obtaining a horse in Season 4 of Diablo 4 will greatly facilitate your gameplay by providing a faster means of traversing the map. You can acquire a horse either by progressing through the campaign until the mission is unlocked or by opting to skip it, resulting in starting the game with a horse at your disposal.
This is an excellent way to quickly start Season 4. However, it is important to note that you must first complete the campaign in order to receive your character’s first horse.
Locate all the Altars of Lilith
The positive aspect is that your seasonal characters in Diablo 4 will also benefit from your previous non-seasonal characters unlocking every Altar of Lilith.
Upon finding all 160 statues, each of your characters will receive the following default stats:
- 68 Strength
- 68 Intelligence
- 68 Willpower
- 68 Dexterity
- 100 Murmuring Obols capacity
- 4 Paragon Points
Once all Altars of Lilith have been unlocked, all new characters as well as your existing ones will begin with these enhanced stats! This will eliminate the need to continually build up your character and instead, you can immediately dive into the seasonal content of Diablo 4 and begin battling your enemies.
Hunting down and activating each Altar of Lilith can be a time-consuming task, but it only needs to be done once. The rewards gained from this process will benefit all of your characters, resulting in a noticeable increase in their power.
We look forward to experiencing Season 4’s changes to gameplay.
Unlock All Regions and Increase Fame
Exploring the entire map before beginning Season 4 of Diablo 4 is beneficial. This is because the map will remain unlocked for all subsequent characters, including seasonal ones. However, if this is your first time playing, there is no need to be concerned about this. Just focus on enjoying the game. Keep in mind that uncovering new areas and traveling around the map will reward you with more Renown.
If you unlock the map with one character and then start a new character in Season 4, some waypoints will need to be unlocked again. However, most will already be available once you activate one. A few waypoints will still require completing Strongholds, which reset for each character.
Although this will greatly simplify things, the primary advantage is that all the Renown earned from fully exploring the map will transfer over, providing a helpful boost at the beginning of every subsequent game.
If you decide to skip the campaign and instead discover all Altars of Lilith and uncover the entire map, you will start Season 4 with an impressive sum of 3135 Renown. This encompasses 10 level-up points at the beginning, as well as the additional stats gained from the Altars, providing your new characters with an optimal starting point.
Discover the Legendary Aspects
Your progress in unlocking Legendary Aspects from previous playthroughs before Season 4 will not transfer over. You will be prompted to rediscover and conquer them by completing the dungeons and defeating the bosses once more.
To make sure you can quickly access the optimal locations in Season 4 for unlocking the necessary Aspects, be sure to take note of the dungeons and Aspects that are most beneficial for your specific build.
If you have unlocked the entire map, you will have the ability to see their locations from the beginning, but it is beneficial to know which ones to focus on first. This will ultimately make things easier in the future.
