If you are tired of constantly running out of gold in Fortnite, then this trick using the golden hen will save your life.
Midas’ return to Fortnite not only brought lava to the island, but also golden chickens. These little creatures are noisy, bright and will try to flee as soon as you approach them.
But unlike regular wild animals, chickens drop 12 gold bars when killed. But don’t rush to shoot them down as soon as you see one waddling across the map.
As one player pointed out in a thread on Reddit, there is a way to harvest gold from these animals.
In fact, if you wait long enough, these chickens will lay golden eggs on the ground.
Instead of directly killing a golden hen, take it inside a building to collect gold safely.
For each egg, you get 350 Gold Bars. The laying of each egg, however, is random. Sometimes a hen lays one egg right after another, but there are times when it takes longer than usual.
That said, if you’re looking to maximize your gold in a single game, the priority here is to keep a gold hen alive for as long as possible.
One way to do this is to bring the animal inside a building. Like the regular chickens in the game, you can press “F” to grab the golden hen when you are close enough.
It’s good to know that your character can jump higher than usual when holding the chicken. While this isn’t as extreme as the Fizz’s low gravity effect in Flobay, it can help you reach certain buildings or safer locations.
Once inside the building, all you have to do is release the hen and collect her eggs. Assuming no one finds you, the next thing you know you’ll be starting your next playthrough loaded with gold that you can spend on hiring NPCs or buying some of the best weapons in the game.
