This Game of Thrones star refuses to watch House of the Dragon for understandable reason

As the Game of Thrones TV universe continues to grow, new faces are being added to the cast. However, there is one actor from the original series who has chosen not to watch House of the Dragon, and for a valid reason.

Despite portraying the beloved character of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, Kit Harington is not involved in the prequel series, House of the Dragon. While he does have a distant connection to the Targaryen family, the show has limited ties to its predecessor on HBO.

Despite the connection between the two shows through George R.R. Martin’s books, it would be natural to assume that the cast members are fans of each other. However, Harington has expressed no desire to watch the spinoff, and this is understandable.

Harington explained via Associated Press that he cannot bring himself to watch the show anymore. After spending so much time on the set, he wishes the cast and crew all the best and has heard that the show is doing well. However, he has no plans to watch it or Game of Thrones again in the near future.

Despite being a popular Game of Thrones star, he is not the only one who has chosen to skip the prequel series. Another cast member, Emilia Clarke, who portrayed Daenerys Targaryen, has also not watched House of the Dragon.

In 2023, while speaking to Variety, she admitted, “I just can’t bring myself to do it. It’s such a bizarre and awkward situation. It’s like being asked to attend a school reunion for a year that wasn’t yours. I’m trying to avoid it.”

Despite being portrayed by a different actress, Clarke’s character was still featured in the finale of House of the Dragon Season 2. This raises the question of whether she has reconsidered her decision to join the fantasy prequel.

The second season of House of the Dragon has concluded, but the third season is currently in production. In the meantime, take a look at 5 similar shows to watch and be sure not to miss our analysis of the Season 2 finale.
