The ending montage of House of the Dragon Season 2 gave a glimpse into the future of almost every character in the Game of Thrones spinoff, except for one notable absence.
Despite varying opinions of the season finale, House of the Dragon Season 2’s final episode provided a clear depiction of the future for all characters except Cregan Stark.
The introduction of the Lord of Winterfell took place during the opening scene of Season 2, featuring a brief glimpse of his partnership with Jacaerys Velaryon. Despite his limited screen time, viewers of House of the Dragon were delighted to catch a glimpse of the Starks from Westeros’ history.
Although the Winter Wolves, also known as the Northern army, were marching towards their fate, Cregan Stark was not featured in the finale as expected.

In the particular scene, he was intended to be depicted leading his army on a march across the Twins. However, in the version that was ultimately aired, only a brief shot of the soldiers advancing was shown.
For some fans, it is difficult to accept that a scene featuring Cregan was filmed but ultimately excluded from the final version. These fans were eager to see more of the lord ever since his first appearance.
“According to one X/Twitter user commented: “Perhaps some of the Tyland scenes could have been omitted to accommodate him.”
Another person questioned why Cregan Stark was not included, especially after the events of the episode.
Another warning: “HBO, your days are numbered.”
“Another person exclaimed, “Please confirm if this is accurate because if they remove him from the final scene, I will ride my dragon and destroy something in retaliation.”
The decision to provide a sneak peek of what is to come in Season 3 of House of the Dragon in the Season 2 finale, rather than concluding with a dramatic battle, has sparked backlash from fans. Many are criticizing this season as being more of a “trailer”than an actual finale.
