Several new features are gradually being made available to Pokémon Go players around the world, and one new mechanic in particular is being hailed by fans as a fantastic new quality of life (QoL) adjustment.
Pokémon Go players love to complain about Pokémon Go almost as much as they love playing it, often filling Niantic’s mentions with complaints, demands, and unrealistic fantasies for the game in an effort to ‘fix’ it.
However, after seven years (and counting), Pokémon Go has a lot of idiosyncrasies that could be ironed out, with some outdated mechanics still slowing down gameplay, and some odd game design choices still holding back progress and enjoyment for veterans alike. only for new players.
One feature that still takes too long is the Buddy system, which often requires players to use the AR functions in Pokémon Go to give their buddy a berry. If you have a Slowpoke as a buddy or a similarly slow Pokémon, it can be terribly annoying waiting for the ‘mon to drag itself across the screen.
This is why fans are so excited about a new feature, because it seems Niantic has listened to the feedback and is simplifying the process so players can focus on increasing their buddy’s happiness, instead of just waving a phone to juggle with AR.
New “Quick Treat” button in Pokémon Go completely avoids AR
As shared in a Reddit post by Pokémon Go player InvisibleSoul8, some players are reporting a new “Quick Treat”button when players select their buddy, which bypasses the AR feature entirely, and simply allows players to feed their buddy a berry in the main menu.

Fans are quite happy with the new feature in the comments, with one person describing it succinctly, saying “When the button is used, it doesn’t activate the camera and there is no animation of the Pokémon walking. A nice improvement in QoL.”
Other comments are curious about the improvement, with one asking, “Can you control which bay is used?” Before another user responded, saying “Yes, you can use a poffin too.”
Some players are happy to see the previous mechanic disappear, saying “I always thought that opening presents and feeding/playing/adding a screenshot to your camera role was always the WORST part of this game. A’ gameplay ‘ miserable. It’s an improvement.”
Another Pokémon Go player comments simply, saying “THANK YOU” while another comment adds, “Niantic is really on top lately.”
It’s encouraging to see an increase in new features and improvements coming to Pokémon Go, and despite some recent issues, it bodes well for the title’s continued success throughout the year. Especially with huge events like the current season of Time Travels.
