With just 9 days of play time under his belt, one lucky Pokémon Go player took to social media to show off his “incredibly lucky” Shiny collection. As expected, this sparked quite a bit of conversation.
Hunting Shiny Pokémon can be incredibly time-consuming, depending on the game you’re playing. Shiny Hunters in Pokémon Go can spend months tracking down their favorite monsters in the game – unless they’ve just joined the game, apparently.
With an impressive total of 9 days spent in the game, one lucky player took to social media to ask the Pokémon Go community if their experience with Chromatics was normal or not.
New Pokémon Go Player Gets Incredible Shinys
Originally shown in this Reddit post, Pokémon Go player SwimyCS shared a screenshot of his recent take on Chromatics and described his gaming experience so far.
Started playing 9 days ago is this normal? Or am I just getting very lucky early? byu/SwimyCS inpokemongo
In addition to Shiny’s incredible loot, they noted that they also encountered other rare Pokémon like Galarian Zapdos during their time playing Pokémon Go.
Some of the Shiny Pokémon shown in this shot – including Chromatic Drattak and Chromatic Garchomp – are fan favorites, so this post received incredible reactions when it was published on r/pokemongo.
One reader called the catch “crazy,” mentioning that he’s particularly lucky to find both a Chromatic Drattak and a Galarian Zapdos. He finished by reassuring SwimyCS that the catch rates for Galarian Zapdos are incredibly low, telling them not to worry about it.
Another reader simply replied “dude, this is the opposite of normal” in response to the caption accompanying the original post.
There were a lot of theories in the replies that the Pokémon Company had supposedly increased the chance of Shiny encounters for new players in their first 7-10 days, with some players calling the catch “Ticker Chromatics.” .
Whether the odds are increased or not (this has never been proven), it’s certainly interesting to think about Shiny’s odds in Pokémon Go. They’re better than in most standard Pokémon games, but it’s still very difficult to hunt down specific Chromatics or rarer Shiny Pokémon.
