Modern Warfare 3 players were stunned to realize that a weapon could literally pierce opponents using a riot shield, delighted that they could finally counter this terrifying threat.
The Riot Shield is one of Call of Duty’s most frustrating weapons in recent years, both in multiplayer and Warzone, as players can use it to absorb an unlimited number of bullets without losing even than one life point.
While there are some counters, such as using a Semtex or other types of explosives, the shield is still very difficult to overcome.
However, this no longer appears to be the case, as the new melee weapon introduced in Season 2 Reloaded appears to be able to bypass the riot shield as if nothing had happened.
The Soulrender is capable of piercing the riot shield
Shortly after the S2 Reloaded update, players quickly noticed that the Soulrender melee weapon was an easy counter to the Riot Shield and that it could prove extremely useful in both multiplayer and Warzone.

While some players wondered if this feature was intentional, developers at Sledgehammer Games confirmed that it totally was.
“It’s not a bug,” they explained. “The Soulrender’s heavy attack, like the JAK Limb Ripper and JAK Purifier, is an intentional counter to the Riot Shield.”

We therefore advise you to unlock the Soulrender as soon as possible to start being much more effective against players using a riot shield.
